Disappearance
On the morning of June 30, 2020, Brett Akers was admitted against his will to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital following a suicide attempt.
The following day, Brett left the hospital without permission. Police found him and returned him to the hospital later that day, but he left again without permission.
Brett was last seen on video surveillance behind Fort Norfolk Plaza near Plum Point Park turning right toward the Elizabeth River Trail around 4:30 pm on July 1, 2020.
Brett hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
On July 2, Brett’s mother received a phone call saying her son was not at the hospital.
Whereabouts
The location of Brett Akers, as well as the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, remains unknown. His case is classified as endangered missing and remains unsolved.
He is not considered a threat to others, however he is in need of medical attention.
Appearance
White male with brown hair and blue eyes. Brett stands 5’11-6’1 tall and weighs 150-165 pounds. He wears contact lenses and had a beard at the time of his disappearance.
Clothing & Accessories:
Brett was last seen wearing blue hospital scrubs, yellow socks, and no shoes. He had cuts on his neck that were bandaged.
